Web & Graphic Design

Boy with a brush & visions of his creations Being a web designer, can mean wearing alot of hats.  Not only must a small shop be able to put out compelling designs - but they must also know about css and MySQL and search engines and visual media and . . .  well, on and on it goes.  The bottom line is that one person cannot possibly have expertise in all areas.

So, our philosophy is to understand the basics as well as possible.  That means focusing on graphics, css and media programs.  We take a big picture perspective on the other areas of web development so we are aware of what options are available.

For more demanding applications we look for solutions that can include open source software or proprietary scripts.  Once we have identified solutions we can apply our expertise to template and theme the selected software solution.  Of course, we have some favorite solutions to common requests but we can also draw on additional resources - such as programmers.

What & How?

As far as design, my personal credo is this: keep it simple and straightforward. Write in a short, newspaper style and do not overload a page with too much information (keep 'em short). Add graphics to enhance the text, not overpower it. Finally, give your viewers the choice on how much information they want to view - first offer them an overview  and an option for more.

These days content management systems (cms's) are all the rage.  This gives the end user instant control over web site content.  We use a couple of different "flavors" of programs for those that crave instant update-ability (is that a word?).  The programs we have chosen have a major trait in common - easy to use.  They are also stable and flexible using industry standard technology.

Need to put a store on-line?  We can help with that, too.   Want to do a site for on-line member administration? How about a newsletter and mailing list program?  All these, and more, are possible. We integrate these programs so that the experience is seamless for your web site visitor.

On small projects we will give you a price or price range.  On larger projects involving multiple programs and programmers we will talk with you about a budget . . . thus giving us some flexibility to bid out projects to keep prices as low as possible.
